Robbie Williams scores midweek No.1 with new single 'Candy'

Cheeky hitmaker Robbie Williams is on course to score his first No.1 single in 8 years with 'Candy', the midweek chart update has shown.

The song, which he co-wrote with Take That bandmate Gary Barlow, has shot straight in at the top spot this afternoon (October 31) and as of midnight last night it had sold 73,000 copies. The Official Charts Company has reported that if it maintains its current sales pace, 'Candy' could be the fastest selling single of 2012.

At No.2 is Labrinth's previous chart-topper 'Beneath Your Beautiful' and Wiley has debuted at 3 with his new offering, 'Can You Hear Me (Ayayaya)'. JLS have dropped 6 places to No.12 with 'Hottest Girl In The World' and Paloma Faith's 'Never Tear Us Apart' has risen 13 positions to No.16.

Elsewhere in the UK Top 40, fun.'s 'Some Nights' has shot up 18 places to No.20, Lawson's 'Standing In The Dark' has dropped 4 to 15, and Adele's 'Skyfall' is up 2 to No.5.
