Robbie Williams scores midweek No.1 album with 'Swings Both Ways'

Singer Robbie Williams has secured the midweek No.1 position in today's albums chart update with his new offering, 'Swings Both Ways'.

The record has shot straight into the top this afternoon (November 20), knocking Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP' from the throne. Williams is currently outselling his closest competitor, which is Tom Odell with 'Shangri La' at No.2, by three copies to one and if he manages to hold on to the position until Sunday (November 24), it will land him the UK’s 1000th Official No.1 album.

Rapper Eminem's latest cut, 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2', is down one place to Number 3, JLS's 'Goodbye - The Greatest Hits' is new in at No.4, and Gareth Malone’s latest choir have debuted at No.21 this afternoo with their album, 'Voices'.

Williams, meanwhile, just announced details of a UK tour that will be in support of his new record and it's set to kick off in June 2014 with tickets being put on general sale on Friday, December 6.
