Robbie Williams swings to the top of UK albums chart

Robbie Williams’ latest album ‘Swings Both Ways’ has debuted at No. 1 on the UK albums chart.

‘Swings Both Ways’ has created chart history as it is the UK’s 1000th chart-topping album.

The first album to have hit No. 1 in the UK was Frank Sinatra’s ‘Songs For Swingin’ Lovers’ which was released 57-and-a-half years ago.

Robbie has also achieved another chart feat as ‘Swings Both Ways’ gives him his eleventh solo No. 1 album – a record he now shares with Elvis Presley.

Behind Robbie in this week’s chart is Eminem’s former No. 1 ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ which sits at No. 2 for a second consecutive week.

Jake Bugg is new in at No. 3 with his second album ‘Shangri La’.

Celine Dion is down one spot with ‘Loved Me Back To Life’ at No. 4 and ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs’ sees The King staying put at No. 5 for another week.

New entries to the chart outside of the top five come from JLS with ‘Goodbye – The Greatest Hits’ at No. 6, Gareth Malone’s ‘Voices’ at No. 23 and Gabrielle’s ‘Now And Always – 20 Years Of Dreaming’ at No. 38.
