PAUL POTTS CELEBRATES NEW ALBUM WITH SPECIAL 'IMPOSSIBLE DREAM' VIDEO

A decade after winning the first ever Britain’s Got Talent, UK tenor, Paul Potts, celebrates his most ambitious album to date with a special video of one of his favourite tracks from the collection

It’s ten years since Paul Potts became the first ever winner of Britain’s Got Talent in front of a record breaking 12 million viewers, with his jaw dropping version of Nessun Dorma.  Now, one of the UK’s most popular tenors celebrates the past decade with the release of his most ambitious album to date, ‘On Stage’ on 13 October (which happens to be Paul’s birthday).  ‘On Stage’, Paul’s fifth studio album, is a collection of songs that have either inspired or been performed by Paul in leading roles - from Broadway to the West End - during his extraordinary career.  To mark the 10-year anniversary of Paul’s first ever performance on Britain’s Got Talent, the opera superstar gives us a special performance of ‘Impossible Dream’, a song his wife’s grandfather always encouraged Paul to sing before he became famous.  Now Paul Potts is the personification of that song.  May we all live the Impossible Dream.

Paul Potts celebrates a sparkling decade at the top with the release of his most ambitious album to date. ‘On Stage’ is an epic album majestically interpreting x15 songs from musicals which have either inspired or been performed personally by Paul. It includes Impossible Dream from The Man of La Mancha, Till I Hear You Sing (which Paul says is “from the underrated sequel to Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, which has great passion and power”), Bring Him Home from Les Misérables, and a vulnerable rendition of Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music, which Paul admits is one of his personal favourites. “I love the simplistic beauty and sadness of that song. It shows that passion doesn’t necessarily need a high octane, high pitch note for it to be touching. There is something in the understated in Sondheim’s music here that really strikes a chord with audiences all over the world.”

Paul’s enduring passion for music sees him still sharing his incredible gift with fans in every continent, from performing at Sydney Opera House, having his own headline show at The Royal Albert Hall, and performing in front of more than a million people at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.  Paul’s continuing success is an inspiration to generations of fans across the globe, and he says, “I will always appreciate the gift that people have given me through their support over the last ten years. I feel honoured and grateful to have this time doing what I feel I was born to do. Here’s hoping I’m still doing what I love in another ten years!’”

The new album ‘On Stage’ is released on Right Track Records on 13 October
