The Saturdays' Frankie Bridge has been confirmed to appear on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The singer is the first name to be announced for the popular BBC dancing show, which is returning in September.

The Brit confirmed the news this morning (August 13) whilst appearing on BBC Breakfast with The Saturdays.

She commented: "I've always wanted to be a part of the show - it looks like so much fun and the costumes are just gorgeous. I can't wait to get started.

"Like so many little girls, I used to take dance lessons when I was in primary school and I really love dancing but this is going to be so different from anything I have done with The Saturdays."

Bridge will compete against fourteen other celebrities in an effort to win the series.

The winner of last year's Strictly Come Dancing was Abbey Clancy.
