Jake Shears recalls how his lateness led to argument with Kylie Minogue

Jake Shears has confessed how he once fell out with Kylie Minogue after failing to pick her up on time for a George Michael gig.

The Scissor Sisters star, who helped to write the pop princess’ 2004 single, ‘I Believe In You,’ let slip to Q magazine that the Australian icon wasn’t best pleased with his lack of punctuality at the time:

“We had arranged to go see George Michael’s Symphonica premiere at the Royal Opera House.

“Well, I woke up a little late that evening – if you catch my drift. I was supposed to pick her up and get to the premiere for 7.30pm. I turned up to her house at that time.

“She was fuming. And when Kylie is angry, she doesn’t say anything. Just this awful silence. We got there at 8.05pm, and everyone was sat in the auditorium, waiting. They’d held up the show for us.”

The 33-year-old, whose band releases its fourth studio album 'Magic Hour' tomorrow, also went onto reveal how he had to deal with a death threat during the tour of their last record:

“At the end of the tour I was told someone had written a letter threatening to shoot me. Was I annoyed they hadn’t told me earlier? No! I don’t need to know. Besides, I can’t think of a better way to die.”
