Shakira on Rihanna duet: 'I honestly thought it would never happen'

Beauties Shakira and Rihanna recently teamed up to duet on a new track called 'Can't Remember To Forget You', and the 'Hips Don't Lie' superstar has opened up about working with the Bajan sensation on the song.

Speaking to America's Ryan Seacrest about the exciting collaboration, which has been trending for most of the day on Twitter, Shakira confessed that she didn't initially expect Rihanna to be up for the project:

"We’re both from the Caribbean, so I always thought we had this common ground and this song is pretty reggae, but it also has that rock attitude that I think Rihanna has, so that’s why I thought she was the natural choice for collaboration on this record, but I also thought it was a little bit of a challenge to get her to record this track because she’s so busy."

"I honestly thought it’d never happen, but I said, ‘I’m going to send it to her and see what happens.’ And she heard the record and she loved it and she said she was on board and I was the happiest girl alive!"

When asked what the song is about, Shakira added: "It is about that guy that gets under your skin that you can’t leave alone and I think that every woman has been through that …we can relate … but this song is not exactly a reflection of my life right now."
