Shakira on 'The Voice': 'They underestimate a 5ft 3 Colombian girl'

'Hips Don't Lie' songstress Shakira has revealed that her fellow panelists on The Voice were surprised by how competitive she is because of her sweet appearance.

Talking about her new role on the vocal talent show, she explained that because she's small and polite, people think her personality will match that when in reality she's very outspoken and strong:

"I actually surprise myself. I didn't think it was going to be this competitive."

Usher also weighed in on Shakira's juding abilities and added: "It's a showdown. Shakira has switchblades, all of a sudden she spits out razors and I'm like, 'Oh now this is serious'."

She then opened up about the other coaches, namely country singer Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 star Adam Levine, adding: "Oh no I don't take any advice from these guys. These two guys have been here three season - they are almost deaf! I have come here to be a mentor to people who have dreamed like I once have."
