Shawn Mendes: 'Sometimes I wish I could turn my brain off and tune out'

'Stitches' hitmaker Shawn Mendes has revealed that it's amazing to have found such a huge level of international fame, but there is a downside.

During a new interview with Notion magazine, the heartthrob confessed that he is now more self-aware than ever before and has definitely turned into his biggest critic:

“I think the biggest thing is how I feel about myself, I think I’m a lot more self-aware. I’ve never been more judgemental about everything that I do; I’m being a self-critic. I think, like, this has made be a little too aware, to the point where I feel it gets to me sometimes. Sometimes I wish that I could just turn my brain off, just tune out, turn it all off for a second.”

Earlier this month, Mendes explained that he is working on his forthcoming new album and can't wait to share it with his devoted fans: "I am so ridiculously lucky to work with the people i work with, so lucky to have you guys... AHHH I CAN'T EVEN EXPRESS MY EXCITEMENT FOR THIS ALBUM. GUYS, I SERIOUSLY THINK YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!"
