Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes graces the cover of Billboard magazine's new issue, but he has revealed that he is "very frustrated" by his accompanying interview because his words were twisted and "turned into a bad version". 

He found fault with the interview's tagline, which read "his fans don't truly know him", and retweeted the article with his own comment: "I have no idea why they would say that. I did not say that!!! I explained how I'm growing up and so are you guys, and how it takes time for you all to fully understand me and me to understand you."

Mendes apologised to fans for the way his words were interpreted by the publication and added: "It's really unfortunate when what you say gets turned into the bad version of it. I'm sorry guys. And the part that I spoke about how much my fans mean to me and what I owe them is not even touched on. Again, I'm sorry. Very frustrated."
