Shayne Ward on writing new album: 'The songs came back thick and fast'

Shayne Ward says material was coming "thick and fast" when he was writing his new album.

The singer is due to return to the limelight on April 12 with the release of new record 'Closer'.

Speaking to the Mirror about the content of the album - which is his first in five years - the former X Factor winner said:

"I've written the whole album, I didn't want it to be all about my experiences of being in relationships and breaking up, but I've touched on them.

"It took six or seven months to do, that's bouncing back and forth recording but the songs came back thick and fast."

Ward meanwhile also commented on rumours that the X Factor judging panel will be shaken up:

"The thing is with Simon [Cowell], he can be so unpredictable. I'm sure there will be an outcry, every year it gets mentioned that Louis is going to go. I don't think he leaves the studio, they just turn off the light.

"If it happens, it happens, but Simon does like to change things up. Who else would I like to see on the judging panel? A successful UK artist, like Sam Smith or Ed Sheeran."
