Skepta on course to reach No.1 in the UK for first time with 'Konnichiwa'

Skepta could land his first UK No.1 album this week.

The grime star's latest effort 'Konnichiwa' is currently topping the country's albums chart.

The midweek update - released today (May 9) - shows that Skepta is 2,000 copies ahead of Beyoncé's 'Lemonade'.

His previous best was No.19, which was achieved by his last effort 'Doin' It Again' in 2011.

At No.3 on the chart update is Radiohead's new album 'A Moon Shaped Pool', which is expected to rise up the chart following its online release on Sunday (May 8).

Drake's previous chart-topper 'Views' drops three places to No.4, while Gregory Porter's 'Take Me to the Alley' is a new entry at No.5.

Jean Michel Jarre's 'Electronica 2 - The Heart of Noise' debuts at No.8 and Andy Black's 'The Shadow Side' is in at No.9.

This week on May 10 Skepta will be at Birmingham's Rainbow Warehouse, then gigs at SWG3 in Glasgow on May 11 and Manchester's Old Granada Studios on May 12.
