Skepta's huge homecoming gig sells out in under two hours

Tickets for Skepta's homecoming gig at London's Alexandra Palace on December 2 sold out in under two hours

The venue has an impressive capacity of 140,000 and every ticket allocated for the event has now gone. Tweeting about the news this afternoon, Skepta wrote: "ALLY PALLY SOLD OUT!! LONDON, I LOVE YOU."

Skepta's album, entitled "Konnichiwa", was recently nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize and he spoke to Britain's NME magazine about the honour:

"It's important for [the] people who aren't on the stage to have some sort of celebration. I'm always on the stage and people are always telling me I'm the genius or the creative but there's so many people with me that [helped with the album]."

"'Konnichiwa' was made because I don't like the industry. I really had to remove myself from it to understand myself. I was chasing it for a long time and travelling around the world and realised that wasn't who I was and it's brought me to a point where I was like 'I don't care about TV or radio. This is not about awards' but saying that to my team, it's like 'What are we working for then? What do we get to do?"
