JENNY HVAL wins Nordic Music Prize for Blood Bitch. Summer festival live date round-up

Controversial Norwegian artist wins award, following this week's sold out London headline show

Following yet another sold out London show earlier this week, Jenny Hval`s 2016 album Blood Bitch was awarded the Phonofile Nordic Music Prize during an award ceremony at by:Larm festival in Oslo this afternoon.
 
The international jury consisted of Paul Jones – Rough Trade Records (UK), Jonathan Galkin – DFA Records (US), Jude Rogers – Journalist The Guardian (UK), Laurence Bell - Domino Records (UK) and Stuart Maconie (UK) – journalist BBC. 
 
The jury released the following statement:
 
The winner is a fascinating artist that divides people – including this year’s international jury. Nevertheless, their album stood out in what was a fascinating year for the prize. All the judges were impressed by the adventurousness of the shortlisted albums, which shows once again how cutting-edge and diverse the contemporary Scandinavian music scene is. For those who loved it, the winning album was an incredibly strong piece of work – engrossing, atmospheric, challenging and thought-provoking. The artist who made it is endlessly inventive, and a brilliant example of how the Scandinavian underground can make statements in music which can powerfully connect and cut through.
 
Jenny Hval hit a fantastic new stride in 2016, releasing one of the year’s most lauded albums, whilst also presenting one of the year’s most intriguing live performances. The album garnered year-end accolades from publications including FACT (#1), The Line Of Best Fit (#1), The Independent (#4), The WIRE (#6), The Quietus (#10), The Times (#19), Consequence of Sound (#21), Pitchfork (#23)The Guardian (#26) and a great deal more.
 
Hval kicked off 2017 with the video for 'The Great Undressing’which set the web alight and has since racked up nearly 1 million plays.
 
She will continue to challenge & inspire throughout the summer, taking her ever-changing live show to the following events:
