SINKANE releases live EP, 'Berlin Sessions'. Proceeds go to benefit Southern Poverty Law Centre!

100% of the proceeds from sales will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center in response to the recent tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Ahead of his upcoming UK tour, Sinkane has just released a new Berlin Sessions EP, with 100% of the proceeds from sales will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center in response to the recent tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Sinkane, the New York-based project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Ahmed Gallab, featuring Ish Montgomery (bass), Jason Trammell (drums), Jonny Lam (guitar), Amanda Khiri (vocals), and Elenna Canlas (keys and vocals), today released the new EP, a three-track Bandcamp exclusive. Recorded live by the band in the midst of a world tour earlier this year, the Berlin Sessions EP consists of a fired-up cut of “Telephone” and an 8-minute, psyched-out version of “The Way” from the acclaimed new album Life & Livin’ It (City Slang), plus a re-written version of “Yacha,” with Amanda Khiri on lead vocals, from 2014’s Mean Love LP (DFA / City Slang).

The EP is available here:  https://sinkane.bandcamp.com/album/the-berlin-sessions-ep

Ahmed Gallab says of the EP:

“Sinkane has always been evolving. With every record I've been able to add a new element to the live show. Now, as a six piece, we are better than ever.
This past June we had a few days off in Berlin with the opportunity to get into the local Red Bull Music studio and mess around. We set up and played just as we do live. It was a lot of fun.

The songs are stretched out and really showcase the talent of the group. Amanda Khiri takes lead on "Yacha". The additional lyrics and vocals were written by her as well. Elenna Canlas and Jonny Lam's solos reign supreme through out the jams. And I think it's safe to say that Jason (jaytram) Trammell and Michael Isvara "Ish" Montgomery make it clear that the Sinkane rhythm section is a force to be reckoned with.

Beyond the musicianship I am proud to say that our collective cultures, experiences and identities shine brightly in these recordings. Sinkane is comprised of 6 people from different walks of life. We are a colorful band that believes in peace, love and hope. As citizens of the USA we are here to show the world that our country is a welcoming and accepting one. Where people take pride in diversity and learn from each other's differences.
As citizens of the world we are here to promote unity.
We firmly condemn Nazism, White Supremacy, Islamophobia, Anti Semitism, Xenophobia, and hate of all kind.

In the wake of the disgusting events in Charlottesville, NC 100% proceeds from this EP will be donated to The Southern Poverty Law Center. Our hearts are with those who are suffering. Not just in our home but elsewhere too. Our shows are a safe place for people with open hearts and minds.”

Sinkane also announced the band’s first-ever performance in Karmakol, Sudan, on December 15th as a part of the Open Sudan Festival. Open Sudan will bring highlights from the Sudanese and international cultural scene together to workshop, exchange and perform, with the aim of showcasing Sudan’s rich culture and connecting Sudan to the international community. During the course of 3 weeks, the Karmakol village will transform into a hub bringing together 500 artists, participants, volunteers and partner organizations to connect and create. On weekends, the doors open to the general public inviting them to participate. The Festival is under the patronage of the Sudanese and Swiss Commission of UNESCO and co-financed by the International Fund for Promotion and Culture, UNESCO.
