Mancunians Take That cancel tonight's Liverpool gig and this week's Manchester shows

Manchester's most popular boy band, Take That, have cancelled their show scheduled tonight in Liverpool as a sign of respect to their hometown.

The band had just played Manchester last Thursday and Friday (18 and 19 May), and were set to return for 3 more homecoming shows this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (25, 26, and 27 May).

Howard Donald tweeted last night: "I'm really hoping the casualties are not as many as it's displaying all over the news. Sending out love and strength to all #Manchesterarena.”

The group released a statement via their management and also via Twitter to announce the Liverpool concert postponement this afternoon (May 23):

"Out of respect to all of the people and their families that were affected by the horrific incident last night at The Manchester Arena, we have decided to postpone our show tonight in Liverpool.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you all."

In another statement, Manchester Arena said:

‘Due to the tragic events in Manchester last night and the ongoing police investigation, the scheduled Take That concerts for Thursday 25, Friday 26, Saturday 27 at Manchester Arena have been postponed. Further details will be released as soon as possible.’
