Taylor Swift on songwriting: 'I don't set out to inspire women, but I can see how my music might do that'

Country-pop sensation Taylor Swift has revealed that while she doesn't write music with any particular end result in mind she would love to think that her songs inspire or 'speak to' the people that listen to them.

When asked by Look magazine if she ever sets out with the intention to inspire women when writing songs, Swift explained that it's definitely not her main goal although it would be great if her music did empower other females:

"I don't have any of that in my head when I write them. It's maybe a natural extension of me talking about not taking cr*p from people that others might take inspiration from that."

"That would make me very happy if my songs can reach out to people and lead them to do something positive... My songwriting will always have a confessional aspect, because I naturally draw on my life and my stories. I don't want to keep repeating the same things, though - you want to be able to explore those themes in different ways and have something new to say."

Swift, meanwhile, will perform her final concert in London later this evening (February 11) at the famed O2 Arena as part of her European 'Red' tour. British rising stars The Vamps will provide support at the show
