Taylor Swift surprised fans and patients at the paediatric section of New York City hospital with a five hour visit at the weekend.

The singer was only supposed to stop off at the hospital for an hour, but she ended up staying for five times longer.

Swift's meeting with 17-year-old cancer patient Shelby Huff was caught on film by her family.

She is seen speaking to Huff despite being encouraged to wear a protective mouth mask.

Swift meanwhile is set to bring her massively successful Red Tour to Asia this summer, with the first date due to take place in Tokyo on June 1.

It comes off the back of a five date run at London's O2 Arena in February.
