Taylor Swift has proclaimed her pride at seeing her friend Ed Sheeran star on Saturday Night Live.

The British singer-songwriter appeared on the iconic US show this weekend (April 12) to promote his new song 'Sing'.

His friend and musical comrade Taylor Swift also made a surprise appearance on the program and she took to Twitter after the show to say alongside a photo collage of her and Sheeran:

"PROUD FRIEND ALERT."

Sheeran meanwhile will unleash his single 'Sing' in the UK on June 1 before releasing his new record 'x' on June 23.

He will then embark on a UK arena tour in October.
