Taylor Swift endured a scare last night (May 5) as she prepared for the Met Ball gala.

The singer was one of many famous faces attending the glitzy event in New York, but she revealed on Twitter that her custom Oscar de la Renta dress was mauled by her cat.

She wrote: "That moment when your cat casually walks up,then abruptly ATTACKS your custom satin Oscar de la Renta gown during your fitting for Met Ball."

Swift also uploaded a photo of herself getting ready with model Karlie Kloss.

The singer's friend Selena Gomez meanwhile also attended the Gala and she uploaded an Instagram video of herself larking about with the 'Red' star.

She added: "Sometimes you wanna just be you with someone who knows all your secrets."
