Taylor Swift has admitted that she "lost her mind" after seeing her friends win awards at the MTV VMAs.

The awards ceremony was held on Sunday (August 24) in Los Angeles and Ed Sheeran and Lorde both bagged gongs.

The former won the Best Male Video award for 'Sing' whilst the latter pocketed the Best Rock Video prize for 'Royals'.

Both acts are good friends of Taylor Swift and she took to Twitter during the event to reveal her pride:

"So basically I'm LOSING MY LITTLE MIND because tonight I got to see my friends @edsheeran and @lordemusic win their first #VMAs."

She later added: "Thoughts: I'm glad everyone's discovering Jessie J! Met Iggy in an elevator and she was super nice. Every time I see Blue Ivy, I cry."

Swift, who performed her new single 'Shake It Off' at the event, had previously uploaded a photo of herself applying makeup to Sheeran's face.
