Taylor Swift's 'Welcome to New York' shoots to No.1 on US iTunes

Taylor Swift's latest new song has rocketed to the top of the US iTunes chart.

The singer released the tune 'Welcome to New York' at midnight today (October 21) as she continues to preview her upcoming album '1989'.

With the song currently at No.1 on the US iTunes list, it means that Swift is enjoying a chart double as 'Shake It Off' follows at No.2.

'Welcome to New York' meanwhile features the lyrics 'Walking through a crowd, the village’s aglow/kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats'.

She adds: "Everybody here wanted something more/Searching for a sound we hadn’t heard before."

Swift's new album '1989' will be released on October 27.
