Taylor Swift: 'I don't need some guy around to be inspired'

'Shake It Off' superstar Taylor Swift has opened up about her decision to stop dating and confessed that she feels as though she has prove that she can write hit singles and new material without being influenced by her personal relationships.

Speaking to Esquire magazine, the beauty admitted that she doesn't want people to think she relies on boyfriends for lyrical content and thinks it's important that she can be alone and still maintain her success:

"I just stopped dating people, because it meant a lot to me to set the record straight -- that I do not need some guy around in order to get inspiration, in order to make a great record, in order to live my life, in order to feel okay about myself. I wanted to show my fans the same thing."

"I've done more thinking and examining and figuring out how to cope with things on my own than I would have if I had been focusing on someone else's emotions and someone else's schedule. It's been really good."
