Taylor Swift tops Canadian chart with eight-second clip of static noise

Taylor Swift temporarily topped the Canadian iTunes chart after an eight-second clip of white noise was accidentally uploaded online under her name.

The short snippet appeared earlier this week on the digital service under the name of 'Track 3'.

It is reported that the clip of static noise said it came from Swift's upcoming album '1989', which is due to be released on October 27.

Fans snapped up the accidental upload by paying $1.29 CAD (72p) to download the clip.

It has been reported that 'Track 3' topped the Canadian iTunes chart on Tuesday (October 21) before being removed.

Three real songs have so far been premiered from '1989' - 'Shake It Off', 'Out of the Woods' and 'Welcome to New York'.
