Taylor Swift on new album: 'We played around and didn't limit ourselves'

Taylor Swift has revealed that she didn't "limit" herself when it came to the sound of her new album.

The US star is releasing new effort '1989' on Monday (October 27) and she told Capital FM recently that she looked to reinvent her music on the record.

The album is set to see Swift veer away from her previous country influence and turn to pop full-time.

She said: "One of the things you can expect is that I'm really trying to challenge myself in every single way possible to make music that doesn't sound like music I've made before.

"When you get into the album there are a lot of late eighties sounds and vocal stylings and production elements. "We were really just playing around with this album and didn't limit ourselves. What ended up happening was we made an album that really sounds like an album - it's really sonically cohesive and I'm really proud of it."

The singer meanwhile has now unveiled the tracklisting for '1989' - check it out here.
