Taylor Swift rockets to No.1 on UK albums chart

Taylor Swift has shot straight to No.1 on the UK albums chart.

The US star released her latest effort '1989' on Monday (October 27) and today (October 29) the Official Charts Company's midweek update confirmed that it is No.1.

The record is outselling the rest of the top five combined, with a sales tally so far of nearly 60,000 units.

At No.2 on the midweek update meanwhile is Ed Sheeran's 'x', with Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' following at No.3.

Led Zeppelin's re-issue 'Four Symbols' is No.4 whilst last week's No.1 - Ben Howard's 'I Forgot Where We Were' - is No.5.

Annie Lennox's new entry 'Nostalgia' is No.6 with Zeppelin appearing again with 'Houses of the Holy'.
