Taylor Swift donating proceeds from 'Welcome To New York' to NYC public schools

Songstress Taylor Swift stopped by American chat show 'The View' this morning and opened up about moving to Manhattan and writing a song called 'Welcome To New York', which was inspired by her recent relocation.

Talking to Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Nicolle Wallace, the beauty explained that she is completely in love with New York City and penned the track as a tribute to it and how it makes her feel because there's something liberating and empowering about spending time there.

She confessed that the single is 'selling well' and went onto share an exclusive, adding that money raised from sales of the track will be given back to the city in a very special way: "I don’t know if I’ve told anybody this before, but I’m donating all the proceeds to New York’s public schools.”

Earlier this week, Swift was named by the city's marketing arm (NYC & Company) as their global welcome ambassador for tourism. Speaking about the honour, she explained: "I'm still learning, but I'm so enthusiastic about this city that when I love something, I'm very vocal about it. New York was a huge landscape for what became this album. It's affected my life in ways I'm not even aware of fully."
