Taylor Swift's '1989' fastest selling album in the US since 2002

Taylor Swift's '1989' has become the quickest selling record in the US since 2002.

The singer unleashed the album last week and Billboard have confirmed that it sold 1.287 million copies in its first sales week.

This means that the record is the fastest selling album in the US since Eminem's 'The Eminem Show' in 2002.

That album sold a total of 1.322 million units.

The success of '1989' has also ensured that Swift is the only act to have three million-selling weeks with an album.

The record is the singer's fourth album, following on from 2012's 'Red'.
