Taylor Swift says songwriting 'pulls her out of a bottomless rabbit hole of self-doubt and fear'

Taylor Swift has credited songwriting with helping her to escape anxiety.

The singer opened up to Time magazine in a new interview about her problems with self-doubt.

The US star said that she uses songwriting as a tool for managing her "bottomless rabbit hole" of anxiety.

Swift said: "I do know how to pull myself out now, from that constant, never-ending, bottomless rabbit hole of self-doubt and fear. I’ve been able to write songs and feel better."

The superstar also said that a lack of inspirational female icons has partly caused the fear:

"It's a really important thing that I manage my anxiety when it comes to the future, because, you know, I have very few female role models. That scares me sometimes."
