Taylor Swift: 'I know it can get really lonely at the top'

Superstar Taylor Swift recently sat down for an in-depth interview with TIME magazine and opened up about how she lays her soul bare in her music.

Speaking about letting people in, the beauty explained that she is fully aware that fame can be a very lonely experience so goes out of her way to be as honest and open as possible:

“I see a lot of celebrities build up these emotional walls around themselves, where they let no one in, and that’s what makes them feel very lonely at the top,” she revealed. “I just keep writing songs. And I kind of stay open to feeling humiliated and rejected, because before being a quote-unquote celebrity, I’m a songwriter. … Being a songwriter means you’re very attuned to your own intuition and your own feelings even if they hurt.”

She also recently told German magazine Jolie that she is very focused on her friends and family, and finding fulfilment as a single woman:

"As an artist you have the choice: you can either cut yourself off and trust no one, or open up to people - like me. I like trusting others and telling my friends everything. My life wouldn't be fun without them. My priorities have definitely changed: my friends, my family and my music come first."
