Taylor Swift says label wanted fiddle on 'Shake It Off'

Taylor Swift has revealed that her record label initially wanted Taylor Swift to include fiddle on 'Shake It Off'.

The hit track features on the singer's latest album '1989', which sees the US star ditch her country leanings in favour of pop.

Speaking to Billboard after they crowned her Woman of the Year, Swift said that her label wanted her to include fiddle on 'Shake It Off' to keep aligned with her roots.

She added that her bosses also wanted "three country songs" on the album.

Swift concluded: "All my answers were a very firm 'no', because it felt disingenuous to try to exploit two genres when your album falls in only one."
