Taylor Swift's '1989' achieves milestone tenth week at No.1 in US

Taylor Swift's latest record '1989' has topped the US albums chart for a tenth non-consecutive week.

The 2014 effort shifted 101,000 units over the last week in the country to reach No.1.

This means that Swift is the second female to have more than one album in the US go No.1 for ten or more non-consecutive weeks.

Her 2008 record 'Fearless' topped the chart for eleven weeks.

Whitney Houston is the only female to have three albums that spent ten weeks at No.1 in the US.

She completed the feat in 1992 and 1993 with the Bodyguard soundtrack, which ultimately spent a total of twenty weeks at No.1.

Other acts who have achieved multiple albums in the US that have spent ten or more weeks at No.1 include The Beatles, The Kingston Trio and The Monkees.
