Taylor Swift gave a four-year-old with terminal cancer a boost after speaking to her in a video chat.

The singer spent 20 minutes in a call with San Antonio's Jalene Salinas, who has a form of brain cancer.

It was the dying girl's wish to speak to Swift and the singer stepped up to the plate.

The US star said to the girl: '"I'm so sorry you're having a bad night.

"I'm so happy to talk to you though and I'm so happy you like 'Shake It Off.' You look beautiful tonight, you really do. You're just as pretty as your pictures."

Swift was alerted to Salinas' cause when the hashtag '#ShakeItOffJalene' trended on Twitter.
