Taylor Swift to appear on The Oprah Winfrey show

Taylor Swift took a break from her sold-out FEARLESS 2009 tour late last month to tape an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is set to air on Monday, May 18th.

Being a guest on the “Oprah” show is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Taylor, and she visited the show’s Chicago studios to surprise a young fan as a part of a special episode - the finale of "Oprah's Search for the World's Smartest and Most Talented Kids," which includes performances from young people with incredible talents from around the world. Dancers, singers and more take to the “Oprah” show stage to show off their best skills to a global audience. Check local listings for time and channel.

Taylor took her FEARLESS tour overseas last week, playing two sold-out shows in London. She returned home this weekend, and the tour resumes on May 14th in Spokane, Washington. Every date on the tour has sold out, and critics around the country are raving about Taylor’s show.

“The steamroller that is Taylor Swift made its way to town Saturday night at a sold-out Scottrade Center. Young pop-country sensation Swift, on her first headlining tour with her long blond locks, sequined guitar and the year’s best-selling CD so far “Fearless” in tow, gave the crowd…all that was expected of her and then some.” --St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Taylor Swift is 19 years old, so it's reasonable to ask what she's doing headlining a sold-out show at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Then she takes the stage and it all becomes crystal clear. Yeah, she's still a teenager. But, wow, what a talent. Swift played well past the bedtime of many of her fans, turning in a solid two-hour show packed with her hits.” --The Florida Times-Union

“Swift captivates big crowd…..impressive performance. If Thursday's ambitious production is any indication of how Swift plans to make her mark in the entertainment world, then at the ripe old age of 19 it appears that we can expect some truly huge things from this star in the future.” --The Charleston (SC) Post & Courier

Taylor’s good friend, American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler, joins Taylor as a featured artist on all of the FEARLESS dates, and hot new group Gloriana is opening all of the shows.

Taylor will take her FEARLESS Tour to 52 cities in 40 states and provinces in the US and Canada over the next 6 months. Every show with tickets on sale has sold out within minutes, including Madison Square Garden, which sold out in one minute. At Taylor’s request, $20 tickets were made available for the Fearless Tour.

The Taylor Swift FEARLESS 2009 Tour is presented by Verizon – in association with L.e.i. The tour’s philanthropic partner is the @15 foundation. The FEARLESS tour is produced and promoted by The Messina Group (TMG.) TMG is a partner of AEG Live, one of the top live entertainment companies in the world, which produces world tours featuring internationally renowned artists and regional concerts and festivals.

Taylor’s Big Machine Records album releases, her self-titled debut and this year’s current best-selling album Fearless, have topped 7 million copies in combined total sales.
