Taylor Swift set to score first UK No.1 album with 'Red'

Country-pop superstar Taylor Swift is currently on course to top the UK albums chart with her brand new offering, 'Red'.

The record shot straight in at No.1 this afternoon (October 24) during the midweek update and according to the Official Charts Company is outselling Emeli Sandé's 'Our Version Of Events', which is now at No.2, by 2 copies to 1.

Meanwhile, soft rock-pop quartet Lawson have entered at No.3 with their debut album 'Chapman Square', Dappy's 'Bad Intentions' has made an appearance today at 6 and Stone Sour's 'House Of Gold & Bones Part 1' charted at a respectable No.7.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, 'The Haunted Man' by Bat For Lashes fell 23 places to No.29, Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' has slipped 11 places to No.18 and Paloma Faith's 'Fall To Grace' has climbed an impressive 22 positions to No.13.

Swift is currently promoting 'Red' and she tweeted a message to her 19.9 million followers this afternoon to let them know she is about to film an appearance on popular U.S. chat show 'The View': "Headed to @theViewTV!
