Taylor Swift promises new sound on next album

Taylor Swift will try to alter her sound for her new album.

The singer initially broke into the mainstream scene with country influences and her 2012 record 'Red' saw Swift hit the big time with a more contemporary sheen.

Speaking to the Associated Press, the 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' star said that she hopes to tread new sonic ground on her 'Red' follow-up. She said:

"I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice. How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I've never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I've never explored before?"

Swift added: "It's my fifth album, which is crazy to think about, but I think what I'm noticing about it so far is it's definitely taking a different turn than anything I've done before."

The US star meanwhile is due to play five dates in London next year as she brings her hit Red Tour to Europe.

Swift is scheduled to perform at the O2 Arena on February 1, 2, 4, 10 and 11, with The Vamps due to support. Watch Taylor Swift perform live below:
