Taylor Swift wins prestigious Pinnacle Award at the 2013 CMAs

Country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift is up for six prizes at tonight's (November 6) Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee and she has already won one of the ceremony's most revered titles.

The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' beauty has been presented with the coveted Pinnacle Award, which was created to celebrate artists who have achieved international success and recognition through concerts and record sales in country music. Garth Brooks is the only other winner back in 2005.

Ed Hardy, CMA President of the Board, explained in an official statement that he believes Swift to be an incredibly worthy recipient of the honour and he's excited to be able to give her the trophy:

"I can't think of a better opportunity than 'Country Music's Biggest Night' to present an award of this magnitude to an artist of this caliber. I've known Taylor since she was 16. She came to my office with her mom to play her music and I was amazed. Taylor's outstanding career epitomizes the definition of the Pinnacle Award."
