Taylor Swift "proud" that her fans don't send death threats

Taylor Swift has praised the nature of her fans and their online conduct.

The rise of social networking websites such as Twitter has formed a breeding ground for internet hate, with rival pop fans often sending abusive messages to each other.

Death threats are also a common occurrence but speaking backstage at the CMA Awards, Taylor Swift said that her fans don't indulge in that kind of behaviour. She said:

"I just feel so proud that my fans are always nice to other fans. They don't say hateful things. They don't say they're going to set people on fire or anything. They're not sending death threats to other people."

The 'Red' star also said that she likes to spy on her followers as they leave her concerts to check out the efforts they go to in terms of banners and t-shirts. She said:

"Sometimes I'll sit in a position where I can watch people leave the shows and I'll look at the shirts that they made and the signs and some people will cover themselves in Christmas lights so I can see them from the stage. I know that's creepy but I just like to watch."

Swift meanwhile is due to bring her massive Red Tour to Europe next year following a successful stint in North America.

She will play five shows at London's O2 Arena in February. Watch Taylor Swift at the 2013 CMA Awards below:
