Taylor Swift: 'My songs are fictional versions of what happens in my life'

Country-pop superstar Taylor Swift has revealed that she's excited to be working on a brand new album because she has a lot more life experience to draw from now.

Speaking to Capital FM about how she writes songs, the beauty explained that she uses things that have happened to her but likes to wrap them up in fiction because otherwise it's like laying your personal life out for the public to absorb at face value:

"There's so much that's happened in the last year and a half for me to draw inspiration from, that it's really going to be very interesting. The only time that I ever get to really express to my fans what actually happened in my life is in my music. Anything that they might hear is a fictionalised version of it."

Earlier this month, Swift confessed that she can't wait to share the new music she's making with her fans and said that it's a challenge to follow the success of her 2012 offering, 'Red': "Now that I've written a lot of songs for the next album – I'm dying for people to hear it. It's so weird to be still promoting 'Red' - I'm so proud of 'Red' [but] I'm creating something that's so different from 'Red'."

She will bring her 'Red' tour to the UK in February 2014 for a run of shows at London's O2 Arena and tickets are now on sale for the dates. Watch Swift perform at the 2013 Country Music Awards below:
