Taylor Swift is the biggest pop star in the world, according to New York magazine.

The publication picked the country-pop songstress ahead of the likes of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga when choosing their top pop icon.

She graced the cover of the magazine and opens up in the accompanying interview about being sharply honest in her lyrics.

Swift said: “I think that allowing yourself to feel raw, real emotions in public is something I am never going to be afraid to do. Hopefully that’s the case, if I can remain a real human."

She added: “I’m fine with being honest with my fans about the fact that it’s okay that everything isn’t okay all the time. I love my life, I love my career, I love my friends - but things are not okay all the time. So I don’t sing about things being okay all the time.”

Swift meanwhile is due to bring her Red Tour to Europe for the first time next year. The US star has already announced five dates at London's O2 Arena in February as part of the live jaunt.
