The Las Vegas quartet, who drafted in the likes of Steve Lilywhite (U2), Stuart Price (Madonna) and Brendan O’Brien (The Gaslight Anthem) on the record, told Spin they left it too late to work with just one person. 

Brandon Flowers said: “Our attitude was, let's wait until we're ready and then we'll find the right producer. But once we started calling people, they had other bands booked.

"So we learned something from everyone and applied it to what we did next. We're a bunch of strong personalities, so there's not gonna be one guy that's gonna come in and overtake things. The results are pretty cohesive."

The 31-year-old, whose band’s follow-up to 2008’s 'Day & Age' is released on Sept 17, also revealed that he’s not exactly an authority on the current music scene:

"You don't see videos anymore, so I couldn't even tell you what any new band looks like. You hear about all these Brooklyn bands and you hear some of their music, but I couldn't tell you what they look like. I can't even tell you their names."
