The Killers: 'Playing the same songs is like having the same dinner every night'

Ronnie Vanucci, drummer with The Killers, has revealed that a brand new album might be on the cards soon despite having only released 'Battle Born' at the end of last year.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, the percussionist explained that performing the same tracks at their concerts is "like having the same dinner every night" so it's in their best interest to maintain momentum and work on new music:

"I hope there's a new album soon. We've been working on stuff. We were in the studio just the week before last. I want to put out a new record now but it's about getting us all on the same page."

"I bring a guitar with me everywhere. Playing the same songs over and over again is like having the same dinner every night. So you want to start getting in the kitchen and experimenting a bit."

The rockers won the Best International Band prize at this year's NME Awards and you can watch them accept the prize below.

The Killers to headline Isle of Wight Festival

The Killers have been announced as the final headliner for next year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The US rock group are due to play the iconic event on Saturday June 15 as they hit the main stage.

The news follows the previous announcement of Bon Jovi and The Stone Roses as the festival's other headliners.

Speaking about the new addition, Isle of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings said:

"We are proud to bring one of the world's greatest rock bands of the last decade to our small island off the South Coast of England…thanks for coming - it will be a weekend to remember!"

The date is the latest big gig to be added to The Killers' 2013 schedule, which already sees the group playing at Scotland's T in the Park and London's Wembley Stadium in June and July.

The band, however, recently axed a number of shows in the US and Canada after a bout of laryngitis.

The Killers 'Here WIth Me' video unveiled

The video for The Killers' new song 'Here With Me' directed by Tim Burton has been released.

The director of 1990 films 'Edward Scissorhands' and writer of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' in 1993 known for his gothic themes cast Winona Ryder to appear in the video.

The 41-year-old actress appears in the video as an eerie-looking mannequin alongside other creepy characters such as lifelike wax figures, a woman spinning on a roulette, and others wearing scary face masks.

The video, which is a dark tale of obsession, that ultimately leads to insanity follows on from the band's promo for 'Miss Atomic Bomb' - an animation that traces a love affair between a ballerina and an aspiring rock singer.

Burton, who previously directed the band’s video for the song 'Bones' shot the latest film in Blackpool, UK.

Speaking about the video, he told Aceshowbiz: "When I heard the song 'Here With Me', I remembered seeing a wax figure of Winona (Ryder) in Louis Tussaud's Waxworks in Blackpool.

“The concept of the video is inspired by the 1935 film 'Mad Love' starring Peter Lorre, as well as the works of Mario Bava."

Las Vegas rockers The Killers have been forced to pull out of several scheduled concerts after frontman Brandon Flowers was diagnosed with laryngitis.

The band were supposed to perform in Camden, New Jersey last night (December 13), but couldn't make the show and they have since released a statement that explains they have also cancelled their gigs at New York City's Madison Square Garden tonight and tomorrow in Toronto, Canada (December 15).

The statement reads: "We regret to inform you that in addition to cancelling (the) show (in) Camden, New Jersey, we have been forced to cancel our shows at Madison Square Garden... and Toronto's Air Canada Centre... due to Brandon coming down with laryngitis. We hope to have a new NYC (New York City) date very soon and ticket holders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets for this future date."

Back in November, The Killers bowed out of a scheduled appearance in England after Flowers complained of vocal problems and it appears to have now escalated.

The Killers release Christmas single 'I Feel It In My Bones'

The Killers have released their latest festive single, titled 'I Feel It In My Bones'.

The track is part of a longstanding annual tradition by the band, who have made a Christmas-themed song available every year since 2006. This year's offering will see proceeds donated to anti-AIDS charity (RED).

It features guest vocals from Halloween Town member Ryan Pardey, who also plays Santa in the accompanying video. The song is available to download now.

The Killers recently shot the video for a forthcoming single in Blackpool. The clip was directed by famed movie director Tim Burton, and features acclaimed actress and previous Burton collaborator Winona Ryder.

The band also had to cancel several dates on their UK tour last month due to a medical issue affecting frontman Brandon Flowers.

However, it was announced earlier today (December 5) that they will be returning to the UK to headline the 2013 T In The Park festival, along with Rihanna and Mumford & Sons.

The event will take place from July 12-14. A limited number of tickets for T in the Park 2013 will go on sale at 9am UK time on December 7.

The Killers join Rihanna on T in the Park 2013 line-up

The Killers have been announced as the final headliner for next year's T in the Park.

The Scottish festival announced yesterday (December 4) that Rihanna and Mumford & Sons are due to headline the three-day shindig, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2013.

The Killers have today (December 5) also been confirmed for the weekend, which takes place over July 12-14.

It's another notable addition to their 2013 touring schedule, which sees them play London's Wembley Stadium on June 22.

Speaking about the Killers announcement, T in the Park director Geoff Ellis said: "The Killers topped our fan poll as the artist our audience most wanted to see in 2013, and we are absolutely thrilled to announce them as our third headliners for T in the Park's 20th edition. They're one of the biggest bands in the world, and when we last brought them to Scotland, demand was so high we could have sold out the show four times over. With the exception of their Wembley Stadium gig, this is their only announced UK gig of 2013, and we're really excited to announce this spread of acts as a starter for 20 for our 20th year celebrations."

A limited number of tickets for T in the Park 2013 will go on sale at 9am UK time on December 7.

Brandon Flowers: "I'm not an idol"

The Killers' Brandon Flowers doesn't think he'll ever be an important idol in the music world.

The frontman is famed for his songwriting talents and flamboyant on-stage performances, but doesn't think his skills warrant any special attention.

Despite winning the Idol gong at the annual Q Awards earlier this year, Flowers insists he'll never be as inspiring as the stars he looked up to as an aspiring musician.

The singer told Q magazine: “I feel it sometimes. But how could I ever feel as important as they do? I could never feel like that, as they did to me.”

Flowers also revealed his own idols in the interview.

He said: “For me growing up it was Robert Smith, David Bowie and Morrissey - those were the people on my wall. All of them are strong figures, strong frontmen."

He continued: "There's something tangible about their vibe.”

The Killers shot their new video in Blackpool with Scissorhands director, Tim Burton, at the helm this week.

Winona Ryder features in the video which was shot in Blackpool's Tower Ballroom. The venue has featured in BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' TV show.

The band returned to Northern England after having to cancel four concerts due to Flower's throat problems.

The Blackpool Gazette reports that Brandon Flowers took time out to pose for photos with fans after being spotted at the local cinema where the band went to watch the James Bond movie, 'Skyfall'.

Samantha Sinclair, manager at the cinema, said: “It was really exciting.

“They were happy to have photos taken with locals. It was their bassist, Mark, who took our photo for us (see below).

“They were really nice, not very chatty but I know they had to cancel their gig on Tuesday because Brandon lost his voice.”

The Killers pull gig after five songs due to sore throat

The Killers cut short a gig in Manchester last night (November 13) after singer Brandon Flowers suffered a sore throat.

The band have also postponed tonight's (November 14) show at the same venue, the Manchester Arena.

The US group were playing the large venue last night as part of their lengthy UK arena tour but they stopped the show after only five and a half songs.

Flowers halted his band in mid-flow to apologise to the crowd, appearing somewhat unsure what to say, then walked off stage.

Manchester Evening News' Katherine Vine, who attended the gig, said: "They played 'Mr Brightside' and it sounded fine. I thought it was going to be great. But after the third song, 'Smile Like You Mean It', Brandon said that his voice had gone and that he had a Chinese remedy drink so he would take that. They started the [fifth] song but he didn't sing a lot of it and was motioning to the rest of the band that he could not carry on. They left the stage and then a bloke came out and said that the gig was cancelled."

The band meanwhile said on their web presences: "Manchester, we started something we couldn't finish and we're so, so sorry. Working on rescheduling tonight and tomorrow's shows. Will let you know new dates ASAP."

'Somebody Told Me' rockers The Killers have revealed that after becoming friends with British trio Muse they would quite like to duet with them.

The Las Vegas group recently announced their biggest UK show to date, which will take place next summer at Wembley Stadium, and they explained to The Sun newspaper that they definitely wouldn't turn down a chance to work with Muse if the opportunity ever arose:

"We’ve become good friends with Muse. We get along so well, so I’d never rule out working together."

Frontman Brandon Flowers joked that the song would probably be really dramatic to incorporate both of their respective musical styles: "We would be trying to outdo each other. It would be spectacular, the choruses would be huge."

The Killers' frontman, Brandon Flowers, has revealed that he once came across a series of handwritten notes made by the late Elvis Presley.

Speaking to Q magazine, the 'Runaways' hitmaker explained that he was picked as the face of his Mormon church's high-profile advertising campaign last year and as a reward for his involvement, was given access to artefacts housed at the headquarters in Utah.

One item he was particularly impressed by was a Book of Mormon which had belonged to Presley because it had notes scribbled in the margins:

"Elvis wrote, 'There can be only one King'. He didn't like being called The King because, to him, Jesus Christ was The King. It was so cool that I got to see that."

The Killers star unsettled by Tommy Marth's final text message

Dave Keuning, the guitarist for The Killers, has admitted that he's still troubled by the last text message sent to him by the band's former saxophonist Tommy Marth just days before his suicide.

Marth was tragically found dead at his home in Las Vegas back in April and was ruled to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and Keuning has now opened up about a text that he received from him asking to meet up before he took his own life.

Speaking to Q magazine, he explained: "I'll never forget that he texted me a few days before saying, 'Hey, if you're in town let's hang out.' I said, 'No, I'm sorry, I can't. I'm in San Diego.' His response was like, 'No worries, Dave. You're a good guy.' That struck me as odd, that he would say something really nice. But he already knew then what he was doing. I wish I could call him but I can't."

Frontman Brandon Flowers added: "It's just shocking. He's the last person you would think would do that. What's strange is that he's the one who brought light to the backstage area, brought levity when it was a grind."

Chart-topping rockers The Killers have joked that now they've reached international levels of fame they want to set their sights even higher and literally aim for the stars.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, the band's Ronnie Vannucci explained that playing a gig on the moon might be the next thing they turn their collective musical hand to:

"Lunar rock, that is the way forward. If there was a gig on the Moon we'd be there. I figure we're so heavy-handed as a band we could probably be heard in space anyway."

The Killers' newly released record, 'Battle Born', slipped 2 places to No.3 in this week's midweek albums chart update and their latest single, 'Runaways', is down 10 to No.29 although the final positions will be confirmed this coming Sunday (September 30).
