The Script reach out to 'American Idol' contestant

With the 'American Idol' auditions well underway, one contestant in particular has caught the attention of not just the judges but also of the band whose song he auditioned with.

Chris Medina, 26, turned up to the Milwaukee leg of the tour to sing 'Break Even' by The Script and his story moved both the panel and a wide audience of people respectively as his name was one of the top trending topics on Twitter throughout the day on January 27. Following his audition, The Script had something to say about it. Singer, Danny O'Donoghue, told PopEater:

"We write our music from a pure and honest place and to see Chris singing 'Breakeven' moved us all,"

"The world would be a better place if more people were more like him. Too often we place our admiration on people who don't deserve it but in this case we have a rare individual, a selfless individual who truly puts others ahead of himself."

Medina, a Chicago native, was given a ticket to Hollywood for impressing the judges where he will go on to compete to become the next 'American Idol'. Watch his moving audition here:
