The Wanted talk about being cheeky, getting bullied at school and the perfect date

British heartthrobs The Wanted sat down for an exclusive interview with Billboard yesterday and spoke about their rise to fame, picking their singles and what they would do on a date.

The lads had a fantastic day in America yesterday as their debut stateside release, 'Glad You Came', was certified double Platinum and member Tom Parker opened up about their decision to make it the first American single:

"I think there's an element of cheekiness in there, which not a lot of boybands have done in the past. It's been very pop based and, I don't want to say safe, but a bit predictable. We've always been a band that from day one we didn't want to do anything predictable. We wanted to change up what people's perception of a boyband was."

The interview was partly comprised of fan questions, and one of The Wanted's followers asked about their personal experiences of high school, to which Siva and Tom replied they were bullied. Max George had a somewhat different time in education and revealed:

"I just played football and hung around with girls, and hated lessons. I didn't like my teachers very much apart from one. It was alright - it was five years of, it was boring. I didn't need any A*'s to get in a band."

When quizzed on relationships and where they would take a girl for the perfect date, the lads had very different ideas. Parker shouted out: "McDonalds! You can't beat a good old Happy Meal! You get a toy and everything!"

Siva Kaneswaran chimed in with an unusual suggestion: "Clean the kitchen together or something? It's interesting, I want to see her work ethic, you know?

Jay McGuinness added, "something really original like a movie and a meal probably", and Max George took the lad approach:

"I'd take her to a football match and then afterwards go back to my multi-million pound penthouse."

The whole chat can be seen over at Billboard.com now and you can watch a recent interview with the guys below:
