The Wanted land midweek No.1 with 'Chasing The Sun'

Boyband The Wanted have secured themselves a midweek No.1 with their new single 'Chasing The Sun' this afternoon (May 23).

The lads have claimed the top spot in this week's chart update and according to the Official Charts Company they are "storming ahead" of their competition. If they maintain the position until Sunday (May 27) when the singles chart is officially confirmed, 'Chasing The Sun' will give them the third UK No.1 single of their collective career.

Fun.'s anthem 'We Are Young' is currently following closely behind at No.2, Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' is a non-mover at 3 and Alex Clare's 'Too Close' is at 4. Rounding off the Top 5 is former No.1 'R.I.P.' from rising star Rita Ora.

Paloma Faith's 'Picking Up The Pieces' has debuted at a respectable 6 and Jennifer Lopez's new cut, 'Dance Again', has made an appearance at No.8.
