The Wanted lament One Direction comparisons

The Wanted's Jay McGuiness has declared comparisons between his band and One Direction "depressing".

The two UK based acts have both enjoyed surges in popularity this year, with their fanbases in America inflating massively.

This has led to some eager observers believing the two bands are similar - something that The Wanted have often played down.

The Daily Star quotes Jay McGuiness as lamenting the comparisons, with the singer admitting that they are quite a bit older than the One Direction lads. He said:

"It is depressing. But we are hairier and more decrepit. We are the ropier version."

As previously reported, The Wanted's Tom Parker recently took to Twitter to express his dismay at his band not being nominated for an MTV EMA this year.
