The Wanted's Nathan Sykes thanks fans after undergoing throat surgery

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has thanked fans for their support after having an operation on his throat.

As previously reported, the British group recently revealed that Sykes would be taking an "unforeseen hiatus" after developing a reported hemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cord.

The singer had surgery to cure the problem on Thursday (April 18) but the recovery period is said to be months.

Sykes thanked his fans after the operation - which took place on his birthday - for their support, saying:

"Not gonna lie, I have been completely overwhelmed by all of the love, support and birthday wishes from you guys. You are all amazing!!"

Bandmate Tom Parker meanwhile tweeted: "Just seen Nath. He was away with the fairies but doing OK. Grateful for all your messages x."
