The Wanted's Nathan Sykes admits he was "scared" during vocal recovery

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has opened up about recovering from his recent throat operation.

The singer underwent surgery in April to remove a hemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cord, with the recuperation period originally set at months.

However, he made his return to the stage on Sunday (June 9) at the Capital FM Summertime Ball at London's Wembley Stadium, much to the surprise of The Wanted's fans.

Speaking on ITV's Daybreak today (June 13), the singer admitted that it was all pretty "severe" and that there is still work to do. He said:

"It was pretty severe. I was pretty scared for a while, it wasn't pleasant."

Sykes added: "It's a lot better, there's still a bit of recovery to do, but slowly and steadily and all that."

The Wanted also performed their latest single 'Walks Like Rihanna' on the show, which is due to come out in the UK on June 23.
