The Wanted hope new single can be used for the World Cup

The Wanted have revealed a desire to see their new single be utilised at the upcoming football World Cup.

As previously reported, the boyband unleashed their new track 'We Own The Night' to UK radio on Monday (August 5).

It features a section that is reminiscent of chanting inside a stadium and Nathan Sykes told Capital FM that it would lend itself well to the 2014 World Cup, which will be held next summer in Brazil. He said:

"No, I think that's a really good moment in the song. I think that's the part where everyone's going to sing a long quite a lot. I'm excited. I want it used for the World Cup. That would be well cool."

'We Own The Night' will be released in the UK on August 11 whilst The Wanted's new album 'Word of Mouth' will follow on September 16.
