Roger Daltrey says no band could hold a candle to The Who

The Who’s frontman Roger Daltrey believes that no band could compare to them during their heyday.

Daltrey even went so far as to say that listeners who preferred bands such as Led Zeppelin only did so because they were “easier on the ear” and “more commercial”.

Speaking to NME magazine, the singer said: ''I don't think there was any band to hold a candle to us, and that includes Zeppelin. You might like their music better because it's easier on the ear in a way; it's easier because it's a little bit more commercial.''

However, the star did not see the band as completely bulletproof during the era, admitting that certainly one mistake was made.

“The energy that used to come out in our stage show was terrifying,” he said. “The only thing we can apologise for is the haircuts.”
